Suspect Arrested in Istanbul Terror Attack, Says Turkey’s Interior Ministry

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the terrorist attack that occurred on Istiklal pedestrian street in central Istanbul, Turkey. This was reported by Kommersant.

The authorities believe that the responsibility for the attack lies with Kurdish organizations based in Syria.

Turkey's Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu announced the arrest, and TRT channel published his statement on Twitter.

According to the minister, “the person who left the bomb has been apprehended.”

He further stated that initial data indicate that the behind-the-scenes actors of the attack are the PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) and the People's Protection Units (YPG), both of which are banned in Turkey and operate in Syria.

The explosion occurred on November 13, leaving at least six people dead and injuring 81, with two individuals in critical condition.

Vice President Fuat Oktay had previously mentioned that a woman may have carried out the attack.
