Pentagon Reports Russian Casualties in Ukraine Exceed 100,000
According to Pentagon data, Russian armed forces have sustained over 100,000 casualties in Ukraine, including both killed and wounded. This information was announced by Mark Milley, the Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff. BBC reports this information.
Milley stated that the Ukrainian side has suffered approximately the same number of losses. He mentioned that Kyiv is sending signals to Moscow about resuming negotiations, which represent a "window" for dialogue.
Additionally, he noted that for negotiations to succeed, both Russia and Ukraine must mutually acknowledge that achieving victory through military means is impossible. Milley added that such high casualties on both sides, along with the winter conditions, may compel Moscow and Kyiv to cease hostilities and come to the negotiating table.
