VIDEO: Children Were Bound. Details on the Brutal Murder in Pemzashen
In the village of Pemzashen, part of the enlarged community of Artik in the Shirak region, the bodies of three family members have been discovered in one of the homes: 31-year-old Zarine Meliksetyan and her two minor children, a 12-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son. The homeowners were first discovered deceased by their neighbors, according to the news outlet "Luren."
Neighbor: "We called her; I would call every morning, inviting her for coffee. Today, I called, she was late, I called again, she didn't come. I called her work to see why she hadn’t come. We decided to check; my wife went in first and then I ran when I saw the door was locked and heard a noise from inside. I had to break the door to enter."
The Shirak regional prosecutor Gurgen Grigoryan stated to "Luren" that the incident is a brutal murder. The bodies showed signs of stab and cut wounds. The murder weapon, believed to be a knife, has not yet been found. Relatives have gathered at the scene since the morning.
Larisa Avetisyan (relative): “It happened during the night; they said it concerned three people. Nobody heard anything. They weren't people to have enemies; they lived a hard life.”
Karine Ghazaryan (relative): “We can’t find any hypothesis. They might have come in for robbery, or maybe they knew them. That’s why the children were tied up.”
The family consisted of four members, with the husband working abroad. Arshak Tonoyan (family relative): “He’s a labor migrant; he returns today at four.” Zarine Meliksetyan worked at the polyclinic in the village of Pemzashen as an operator.
Larisa Avetisyan: “She was a well-educated person, a high achiever with a red diploma, from a decent family. They were very good people.”
A criminal case has been initiated for unlawful deprivation of life and the murder of minors. Investigations are ongoing at the scene.
