Tourist Flow Decreases in Jermuk: Governor on the City’s Normal Life
Following the aggression on September 13, thousands of people from Vayots Dzor were relocated to the surrounding regions, said Vayots Dzor Governor Ararat Grigoryan during a conversation with journalists at the National Assembly.
“During that time, there were quite a number of tourists resting in Jermuk, who were moved to shelters to ensure their safety, and afterward, a large number of tourists left the city of Jermuk,” he noted.
According to the latest data, the normal life in Jermuk is gradually being restored, although the tourist flow has decreased. “The situation is relatively satisfactory; there are still visitors, but the volume we had and were supposed to have until the end of the year is not present. Currently, we have about 40 percent occupancy, and normal life is being restored,” Grigoryan said.
The majority of displaced persons have returned to the region, with about 15-20 percent not coming back. “This process was gradual; schools are fully operational, kindergartens are functioning, and additional state programs have helped us restore normal life more quickly,” Ararat Grigoryan added.
