Iran Has Become a Major Headache for Azerbaijan and Turkey: Will There Be a Conflict? Expert

Iran has become a major headache for Azerbaijan and Turkey today. This was stated by Turkish and Kurdish studies expert Karen Hovhannisyan on his Facebook page.

“Ten years ago, we were a headache for Azerbaijan, and the Kurds were for Turkey; now the Iranian factor has come to the forefront. Turkey and Azerbaijan are now clearly aware that a single state is hindering the strengthening of their positions in this region—Iran,” he wrote.

“This is not something new; rather, the changes in events have made Iran's positions more pronounced, which were only speculated about in expert and analytical circles. Azerbaijan well understands that they are facing a new conflict that can explode under the encouragement or direction of external forces,” he continued.

“At this moment, I believe that the Azerbaijani authorities are being restrained from tough relations with Iran by Turkish authorities, as Turkey is more realistic and knows very well what the region, particularly Azerbaijan, will turn into if Baku's dictator takes such a step. Aliyev, who is consumed with the laurels of victory he wants to attribute to himself, doesn't even realize that the Azerbaijani side's successes in the 44-day war have nothing to do with his personal actions, let alone with an artificial union called Azerbaijan,” he concluded.
