Artsakh Ombudsman on Azerbaijani Gunfire in Kharamor

Artsakh Ombudsman on Azerbaijani Gunfire in Kharamor

Today, targeted gunfire directed at civilian individuals conducting agricultural work in the Kharamor village area of Artsakh is yet another manifestation of Azerbaijan's ethnic hatred and genocidal policies against the people of Artsakh.

This was stated by Artsakh Ombudsman Gegham Stepanian on his Facebook page. “According to information received by the Human Rights Defender's office, the incident occurred on November 5 at around 12:30 PM in a field located within the administrative territory of Kharamor community in Askeran region of the Republic of Artsakh. As a result of the gunfire, a tractor belonging to K. Martirosyan, a resident of Stepanakert, was damaged. There were no injuries among civilians. Agricultural work has completely ceased due to the gunfire.

Azerbaijani authorities and armed forces, who speak of peace while making false promises about the rights and security of the people of Artsakh, continue to pursue a criminal policy that leads to widespread violations of the most basic rights of the people of Artsakh and undermines their physical and psychological safety. We have repeatedly emphasized that military checkpoints near peaceful settlements pose a direct threat to the lives and basic rights of civilians, and we have witnessed the threatening consequences of this reality numerous times since the establishment of the ceasefire.

Azerbaijan's ethnic cleansing and genocidal policies have not changed and will not change. What is being done under the guise of false pacifism is aimed at deceiving the international community and dulling the vigilance of our society,” the Artsakh Ombudsman wrote.
