Will New Year Celebrations Be Cancelled in Russia?

The Speaker of the State Duma of Russia, Vyacheslav Volodin, has published a survey on his Telegram channel regarding whether his subscribers support the cancellation of New Year celebrations in Russia in 2022. Subscribers were offered three options: 1. complete cancellation of all events, 2. partial restrictions, and 3. celebrations in the usual manner, without changes.

The majority of people voted in favor of the second option. "There are less than two months left until the New Year 2023. I suggest discussing whether you support the rejection of New Year events, including corporate parties, concerts, and fireworks," Volodin asked.

As of November 5, 66% of the Speaker's subscribers wish for only children's events to be held, 23% support the cancellation of all events, and 11% favor holding New Year celebrations as usual.
