Earlier, reports indicated 8 fatalities. The incident occurred overnight when a large fire broke out at the "Polygon" café in Kostroma. Approximately 250 people were evacuated from the café building.
The regional prosecutor's office stated that the potential cause of the fire may have been fireworks organized by one of the café's patrons. Media reports indicate that a search has been initiated for an individual responsible for discharging explosive materials in the nightclub.
