Erdogan Details Agreement with Putin, Accuses Western Countries
“I have agreed with Putin to provide free grain to countries in need,” said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“Our views align with Putin's; first and foremost, African countries must receive grain,” Erdogan stated.
Erdogan criticized the behavior of Western countries, calling it an attempt to “teach humanitarian lessons” while simultaneously ignoring the issues present in Africa. His comments were quoted by TASS.
“The pain of every innocent person in Africa, especially in Somalia, who is dying without access to bread breaks our hearts. Unfortunately, efforts are not being made to put an end to the tragedies leading to the deaths of millions. It is shameful that Western countries, which are giving humanitarian lessons to the world, remain indifferent to this tragedy,” Erdogan said.
The Turkish president added that Ankara is not surprised by Europe’s behavior. He noted that European countries value Africa, Asia, and Latin America only to the extent that they need oil, gold, and cheap labor. If this contradicts Europe’s stance, they become nothing more than weeds invading the glorious garden of Europe.
It is noteworthy that during a phone call several days ago, the presidents of Russia and Turkey discussed the issue of the grain corridor. Later, after Ukraine provided guarantees to Moscow, Russia agreed to resume the process, allowing ships loaded with grain to move from Ukrainian ports again.
