Russia's Dependence on Iranian Weaponry is Increasing: ISW

The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has reported that Russia's dependence on Iranian weaponry is growing. This was reported by the Russian service of the BBC.

Specifically, the Institute noted in its analysis dated November 1 that it has recounted information obtained from Ukrainian and American sources regarding Iran's preparations to supply Russia with new batches of drones, as well as ballistic missiles, and has inferred that this has led to an increase in Russia's reliance on Iranian arms.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, as well as anonymous Western experts interviewed by the American CNN, Iran is expected to soon send hundreds of new kamikaze drones to Russia, which are used to target Ukraine's civilian infrastructure, along with short-range tactical ballistic missiles.

“Russia has likely negotiated the supply of additional Iranian weaponry due to the depletion of its own stockpiles of cruise missiles and drones during the ongoing war in Ukraine, particularly during its campaign against Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. Russia is presumed to continue striking Ukrainian critical infrastructure with drones and missiles, trying to compensate for its conventional forces' failures on the battlefield,” analysts from the Institute for the Study of War wrote.
