Prime Minister on the Sochi Meeting

Prime Minister on the Sochi Meeting

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, commented on the outcomes of the trilateral meeting held in Sochi on October 31. As reported by Armenpress, during a joint session of the standing committees of the National Assembly discussing the draft law on the state budget for 2023, the Prime Minister emphasized that steps were taken towards the implementation of the peace agenda as a result of the meeting.

“Can I state that steps were taken towards the implementation of the peace agenda as a result of that meeting? I can say yes, definitely. And it was a very useful and important meeting. Of course, the meeting had both public and closed components. Very important issues were raised.

You are aware that prior to that meeting in Armenia, discussions had been ongoing about whether the Republic of Armenia is pursuing the most optimal option for regulating relations with Azerbaijan and addressing the issues surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh. The question was how much the political stance of the officials involved in the negotiations corresponds to the interests of the Republic of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. I believe that one of the most crucial aspects of the Sochi meeting was the response to this question.

This response was not absent before Sochi; however, discussions on this matter became maximally public, and we can publicly see and compare how much our policy corresponds to that vision and framework,” Pashinyan emphasized.
