‘Never Give Up, Shame Yourself Until the End’: Alen Simonyan on Upcoming Opposition Rally

The President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, commented on the recent actions of the opposition and the 'Resistance Movement' rally scheduled for November 5.

“I have the impression that they have a motto in Russian: ‘никогда не сдавайся позорься до конца’ (never give up, shame yourself until the end). I feel that they are moving forward with that motto. I regret that Ishkhan Saghatelyan (MP from the ‘Armenia’ faction) does not understand that they have entrusted him with the role of political suicide. I am simply astonished how one can fail to realize that he is being driven towards political annihilation. We have been in the opposition and know when and why a rally should be held, when to stop, and when not to continue,” Simonyan said in a briefing with reporters at the National Assembly, according to ‘Armenpress’.

The National Assembly President emphasized that opposition MPs have not attended parliament to discuss several important laws for a long time, but as soon as the issue of Konstantin Zatulin, a deputy of the State Duma of Russia, arose, they were there to support him. “They do not come when it is the time to vote for the election of judges of the Constitutional Court of Armenia, they do not attend various law votes, but they come when the issue of Konstantin Zatulin is raised, to defend Zatulin, do you understand?” said Simonyan.

The ‘Resistance Movement’ has called for a rally at France Square at 15:00 on November 5.
