Large-Scale Embezzlement by Former Tavush Governor
During the preliminary investigation of a criminal case initiated by the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia, it has been revealed that the former governor of Tavush, a public official, concealed information related to seven real estate properties subject to declaration, valued at a particularly large scale.
This was reported by the Committee's press service. Specifically, it was found that H.A. (Hovik Abovyan), who held the position of governor of Tavush from May 15, 2014, and was a declarant public official, failed to include information in the declaration submitted to the Commission on Ethics of High-Ranking Officials on June 26, 2018, intentionally hiding data about seven real estate properties with a cadastral value of 3,035,946 AMD located in Yerevan and the Tavush region.
For the commission of the aforementioned criminal act, H.A. has been charged under Article 314.3, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (in effect from August 1, 2003, until it was repealed on July 1, 2022), which pertains to the intentional concealment of data in declarations. The preliminary investigation regarding H.A. has been completed.
The case materials have been submitted to the supervising prosecutor with a request to approve the indictment and forward it to the court.
