We Are Ready to Create a Transit Corridor Between Armenia and the Persian Gulf, Iranian Minister
The Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Rostam Qasemi, has announced that Iranian companies are ready to develop transportation between Iran and Armenia and establish a new transit corridor between Armenia and the Persian Gulf via the Norduz village in Eastern Azerbaijan.
Citing Mehr News, Rostam Qasemi made this announcement during a meeting with Armenia's Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures, Gnel Sanosyan. During the meeting, it was decided that Iranian companies should collaborate with Armenia in the construction of tunnels, roads, and buildings.
Based on an agreement signed between the two countries, the ministers decided to complete and develop the North-South corridor from the Norduz border to Varzegan and Tabriz.
According to Qasemi, since Iran has substantial experience in the housing sector under the “National Housing Movement,” Iranian construction companies will start their activities in Armenia. “In northern Iran, over 200 million tons of cargo are transported, which can be considered a good opportunity for the development of exchanges between the two countries,” the Iranian minister noted.
Emphasizing that Iran is the fourth largest producer of cement in the world and has also been efficient in the steel production sector, Qasemi stated that Iranian producers of cement, steel, and construction materials will be represented in Armenia.
