Iran to Send 1000 Weapons and Drones to Russia by Year-End, CNN Reports

Iran will supply approximately 1000 weapons to Russia by the end of 2022, according to a report by CNN, citing officials from a Western country monitoring Iran's arms supply program.

The delivery is expected to include drones and short-range ‘ground-to-ground’ ballistic missiles. CNN reports that in the recent past, Iran sent 450 drones to Russia, which have already been involved in the military conflict in Ukraine.

This summer, the Washington Post reported on possible supplies of Iranian drones to Russia. Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has demanded that Iran cease arms supplies to Russia.

Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that the Kremlin is unaware of the use of Iranian drones in Ukraine.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in a conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, claimed that his country is not sending weapons to Russia.
