EU to Provide Electricity to Ukraine in Case of Deficit
The EU has expressed its readiness to supply electricity to Ukraine in case of a shortage. The country may not only export electricity but also import it. This was stated by the European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, who has arrived in Kyiv.
“The first step was taken back in March when we synchronized Ukraine's energy network with the continental European grid. This means that Ukraine can both export and import energy from the EU,” the Commissioner mentioned.
The volumes the European Union is prepared to transfer to Kyiv have not been specified by Simson. Earlier, Ukraine's state energy company reported that on October 27, electricity was successfully imported from Slovakia for the first time in test mode.
