I Can Say What Happened: Biden on Pelosi's House Attack
U.S. President Joe Biden compared the attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband to the Capitol riot, blaming his political opponents for promoting harmful rhetoric to "unhinged" individuals.
Speaking to Democratic Party members ahead of the midterm elections, Biden stated that he can only analyze the incident based on media reports and cannot guarantee their accuracy.
"This guy used the same chants that were used during the attack on the Capitol on January 6. I'm not making it up; that's what the media reported. I can't vouch for it. I can say what happened: He shouted, 'Where is Nancy?'" said Biden.
Supporters of former President Donald Trump were looking for Nancy Pelosi during the January 6 assault on the Capitol, aiming to prevent the Congressional certification of Biden's victory.
CNN reported that the man who broke into the speaker's home in San Francisco and attacked her husband with a hammer was also seeking to confront her. According to the network, he was a proponent of various conspiracy theories, including those regarding the 2020 presidential election results being falsified.
As a result of the attack, Paul Pelosi suffered a skull fracture and serious injuries to his hands. He has undergone surgery and is recovering. The attacker has been taken into police custody and is also in the hospital. The speaker herself was in Washington at the time of the incident and was unharmed.
