We Hope Azerbaijan Will Agree to Russian Proposals: Marukyan
Armenia is hopeful that Russia will defend its proposals regarding the establishment of interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, wrote special envoy Edmon Marukyan on Twitter. He stated, “We hope that Russia will uphold its proposals and that Azerbaijan will agree to the Russian suggestions.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also addressed this topic on his Twitter page, stating that Armenia agreed in early September to work on the fundamental principles and parameters of international relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as presented by the Russian Federation, and is prepared to confirm this in Sochi.
Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia deems it necessary for a peace treaty to be signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan and will support any option chosen by the Armenian people and leadership. “But we will not impose anything. We cannot and do not intend to dictate anything to Armenia. If the Armenian people and the current leadership of Armenia believe that they should choose a specific option for this peace treaty… Washington, as far as I understand, stipulates the recognition of Azerbaijan's sovereignty over all of Nagorno-Karabakh, if that is what Armenia thinks, well, please,” Putin emphasized.
