Forensic Doctors Provided False Conclusion in the Case of P. Poghosyan's Murder at 'Aragast' Cafe: Prosecutor's Office
On September 25, 2001, around 01:00, a criminal case was initiated regarding the murder of Poghos Poghosyan in the restroom corridor of the 'Aragast' cafe in Yerevan. This investigation was opened due to the apparent false conclusions given by experts, as reported by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia.
Following new circumstances that emerged in 2019, a committee forensic examination was appointed, revealing that experts Sh.G. and G.H., who conducted the primary forensic examination of Poghosyan's body, failed to register several significant factors critical for the investigation concerning the injuries found on the corpse.
The committee's conclusions refuted the assertions made by the aforementioned experts regarding the mechanism of how the injuries that caused Poghosyan's death and posed a significant risk to his life were inflicted.
The criminal proceedings were initiated based on a report from the Deputy Prosecutor of the Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of Yerevan, under Article 504, Part 2, Clause 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, which pertains to giving false conclusions in connection with serious or particularly serious crimes.
