Extraordinary Meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council Held Under Pashinyan's Chairmanship
An extraordinary meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, conducted in a videoconference format.
The Prime Minister’s Office reports that the meeting was also attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadir Japarov, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, and CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas.
The meeting discussed the report of the CSTO Secretary General regarding the results of the mission sent to Armenia based on the protocol decisions adopted at the meeting of the Collective Security Council on September 13 of this year.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Pashinyan emphasized that the Secretary General's report largely reflects the existing realities, particularly the fact of the intrusion of Azerbaijani units into the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia and the threat of its repetition, as well as the necessity for Azerbaijani forces to return to their original positions.
Prime Minister Pashinyan addressed Armenia's expectations concerning the CSTO’s response, reiterating the need for a clear political assessment from the CSTO regarding the Azerbaijani aggression launched against Armenia's sovereign territory on May 12, 2021, and thereafter, including the aggression on September 13-14, 2022, as well as the formation of a clear roadmap for restoring Armenia’s territorial integrity.
As a result of the meeting, CSTO Foreign Ministers were tasked with coordinating a draft decision.
