Armenia Has Yet to Respond to Peace Agreement Elements: Bayramov

Yerevan has not yet responded to the elements of the peace agreement provided to the Armenian side during the meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia on October 2 in Geneva. This was announced by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

Bayramov made this statement on Friday during a phone conversation with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia Karen Donfried, according to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“During the conversation, Bayramov and Donfried exchanged views on the current situation and prospects of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as various aspects of the Azerbaijan-American agenda,” Azerbaijani media reports.

Bayramov specifically discussed the situation in the region, various aspects of the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Azerbaijan's position and proposals regarding starting negotiations on a peace agreement with Yerevan. “Bayramov noted that the Armenian side has not yet responded to the elements of the peace agreement that were provided to Armenia after the meeting of foreign ministers in Geneva,” the statement said.

For her part, Donfried emphasized that the U.S. supports efforts aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
