VIDEO: Interpol Secretary General Visits Armenia

On October 27, Interpol Secretary General Jurgen Stock arrived in Armenia for a two-day working visit at the invitation of the Chief of the Armenian Police. He was received at the police headquarters by Major General Vahe Ghazaryan, the Head of the Armenian Police. This information was reported by the Police.

The Chief of Police, Jurgen Stock, and members of the Police Board laid a wreath and flowers at a memorial wall honoring police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Major General Vahe Ghazaryan, welcoming Jurgen Stock, highly appreciated the role and contribution of the international organization Interpol in the fight against international crime. Ghazaryan noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Armenia. He emphasized that more active cooperation is carried out in combating crime in areas such as cybercrime, financial crimes using digital technologies, illegal drug trafficking, organized crime, and more.

The Chief of Police expressed readiness to continue efforts aimed at combating all manifestations of crime.

Jurgen Stock, thanking for the warm reception, highlighted several important areas of collaboration. He noted that 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of Interpol, and the effectiveness of the organization's work depends on the operations and close cooperation of National Central Bureaus in member states.

Stock also discussed new types of crime. The parties addressed issues related to combating these crimes.

Deputy Chief of Police Ara Fidanian presented the ongoing reforms within the Armenian Police. The activities and results of the newly established division combating illegal drug trafficking within the Criminal Police were also discussed.
