On September 13, You Handed Over More Than 50 Positions: Seyran Ohanyan

“You handed over more than 50 positions to the enemy on September 13, you are the Speaker of the National Assembly of your state, while giving up your state's positions you come and say, ‘On September 21, I am distributing bonuses due to the festive occasion, it has been the custom.’ This was stated by Seyran Ohanyan, the head of the ‘Armenia’ parliamentary faction, during a meeting with residents in the Tavush region.

“Many things have been customary, and what then? This means we have come to the conclusion that this government has violated all the values acquired over 30 years—Artsakh, the army, Armenia's sovereignty, state-building. If the state exists today, it is thanks to the civil service system created over these 27 years, the heads of departments and divisions. There have also been shortcomings in the past, but they have multiplied those shortcomings for the same reasons. If they criticized the principle of family and friends before, now it has become unbearable. They criticized the pressures at the local level, and now you can see in the communities what kind of pressures there are after elections,” he added.

According to Seyran Ohanyan, their struggle is aimed at the idea that by continually giving up, you cannot solve issues. “The more you give up, the more the Turk will want to pressure you. That’s why we need to straighten our spines, raise the spirit of our people, and the army can be restored quickly. I have led the army and know what discipline means; now just look at how they dress, anyone wears whatever they want. There are high-ranking generals standing without hats near the Prime Minister. The Deputy Minister of Police wanders around the city with his hands in his pockets and without a hat. If the same Prime Minister understood, he would turn to him and say, ‘Mr. General, please get out of here or put on your hat; do not humiliate the dignity of the state.’

Seyran Ohanyan recounted that last year, when there was a security-related issue, they invited the head of the main operational department, Edward Asryan, who is now the Chief of the General Staff, who came and presented the situation at the border. “I asked him a couple of questions; while answering those questions, he had the audacity or innocence to say a couple of positive things about me. In the end, I told him, ‘Do you realize, among these wolves, you praise me; you will be ousted from your position tomorrow.’ Just look at what happened, he was moved from the position of lieutenant general to major general. The position considered the brain of the Armed Forces was vacant for 4 months; they could not find a person. Subsequently, no one was found, and they appointed the same person to the position of army general—Chief of Staff.”

It should be noted that Seyran Ohanyan, leader of the National Assembly ‘Armenia’ faction, along with MPs Gegham Manukyan, Arthur Khachatryan, Argishti Gevorgyan, and Garnik Danielyan visited the Tavush region on October 22 and met with residents.
