Did Putin Threaten to Escalate the Conflict? Scholz Responds
Russia has never threatened Germany by escalating the Ukrainian crisis, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz told Die Welt newspaper. A reporter asked Scholz whether "Putin has ever threatened to escalate the conflict." In response, the politician noted that Western media freely interpret the official messages regarding negotiations between Berlin and Moscow.
"For good reason, I do not disclose details about my negotiations with the President of Russia. But here’s what I can say: the reports I have read about alleged threats during those negotiations are false," said the German Chancellor.
Earlier, Olaf Scholz warned about the risks of introducing price caps on gas and oil. According to him, a political decision regarding the 'price ceiling' could lead to a deficit of energy resources in Europe, as fuel producers would sell it under more favorable conditions.
