Blinken: We See How Russia Is Doubling and Tripling Its Aggression

The U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has stated that Moscow is not interested in halting its aggression against Ukraine. He made this remark during a joint press conference with France's Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, as reported by Voice of America.

“As for diplomacy, the end of the war entirely depends on whether Russia reaches the point where it is genuinely interested in stopping the aggression it started. At this moment, we see no evidence of that,” Blinken said.

“On the contrary, we see how Russia is doubling and tripling its aggression. Hundreds of thousands of Russians have been mobilized in the last month, becoming cannon fodder that Putin is attempting to throw into the war,” he added.

According to Blinken, during discussions with the French Foreign Minister, they addressed the West's response to Russia's aggressive actions against Ukraine.

“In recent days, we have witnessed Moscow's large-scale strikes on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure, many of which have been carried out using drones provided by Iran. The strikes have a clear objective: to deprive Ukrainians of heating, water, and electricity,” Blinken stated.

He noted that Putin is mistaken in thinking that these attacks would break the will of Ukrainians to achieve victory. “On the contrary, it only strengthens their determination to defend their country. Moscow can cut off power across Ukraine, but it cannot extinguish the spirit of the Ukrainians. President Putin thought he could split the transatlantic alliance. Instead, he has drawn us closer together. The U.S. is working closely with France and other European allies to help them end their dependence on Russian energy resources,” Blinken emphasized.

He pledged that the U.S. will continue to support its allies as winter approaches.
