The fastest aircraft in the U.S. Air Force is considered to be the F-15E Strike Eagle combat bomber, reports the American military portal 19FortyFive.

"The fastest aircraft, excluding the Space Force's X-37B, is the F-15E Strike Eagle. It can reach a speed of 2.4 to 2.5 Mach or approximately 1,875 miles per hour," the publication states.

The F-15E is equipped with two Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-229 turbojet engines, complete with afterburner capabilities. According to the source, F-15E pilots can transition from minimum turns to maximum afterburner in less than four seconds.
