«There is no talk of canceling the merger of universities». Dumanyan

Students and faculty of Yerevan's Brusov State University are continuing their protest today, October 20, by marching towards the Government building.

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Vahram Dumanyan, emphasized in an interview with Sputnik Armenia that there is no talk of canceling the merger of universities; the project is under discussion, opinions are being gathered, and various options are being considered.

“Nothing extraordinary has happened; it is a normal process. During the protests, there is talk about education, but that topic is only being exploited. The content has no connection to the quality of education and science. We are open to any discussion, but we will not participate in shows,” Dumanyan stated.

It is worth mentioning that the students and staff of Brusov State University are protesting against the government initiative that proposes the university to merge with two other institutions: Abovyan State University of Education and the State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports.
