155 Hectares of Land Allocated on Mount Hatis to Relatives of Norik Petrosyan

Besides the 'Gagik Tsarukyan' charitable foundation, large parcels of land on Mount Hatis have been acquired by the daughter and brother of Russian businessman Norik Petrosyan. According to 'Hetq', they possess 155 hectares of land on the slopes of Mount Hatis. A small portion of the land was allocated to the Petrosyans in 2022, while the majority was allocated in 2007-2008.

After Gagik Tsarukyan announced the idea of constructing a 33-meter tall statue of Jesus Christ in Armenia and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed a positive opinion on the matter, it became known that the statue is intended to be built at the summit of Mount Hatis. 'Hetq' has already reported on the sale of land parcels at the summit and slopes of Hatis to the 'Gagik Tsarukyan' charitable foundation.

In 2022, decisions by the Akunk community council and community leader Hunan Rubenyan allocated two distinct land parcels to Norik Petrosyan's daughter, Armine Petrosyan, totaling 7 hectares. In June 2022, under the decision of the Akunk community leader, a 6-hectare land parcel was auctioned off to Armine Petrosyan for 2 million 50 thousand drams, designated for agricultural use (pasture category) and located 1.5 km below the summit of Hatis (to the west) near the lower part of an existing lake. In August of this year, the community leader allocated a 1-hectare land parcel to Armine Petrosyan for which she paid 395 thousand drams to the community budget. This land parcel, similar to the previous one, is also designated for agricultural use and has a purpose of 'pasture'. The mentioned land parcel is located southwest of the summit of Hatis, not far from the 'Poghoss Petros' church in the Akunk community (approximately 700 meters in a straight line).

It is noteworthy that adjacent to this land parcel owned by Armine Petrosyan is the 7-hectare land parcel that was allocated to the 'Gagik Tsarukyan' foundation.

"The allocation of the slopes and summit of Hatis began in 2007." Although the general public learned months ago that the 'Gagik Tsarukyan' foundation has become the owner of land parcels at the summit, the first land parcel at the summit of Hatis was acquired by Norik Petrosyan, who later donated it to the 'Gagik Tsarukyan' foundation. Community leader Hunan Rubenyan had informed 'Hetq' months ago about Petrosyan's donation of a 46-hectare land parcel to Gagik Tsarukyan. Beyond the 46 hectares at the summit which were subsequently donated to the 'Tsarukyan' foundation, a total of 148 hectares of land on Mount Hatis were allocated in 2007 and 2008.

Thus, in 2007, based on decisions made by the Akunk community council and later by community leader Hunan Rubenyan, a total of 60 hectares of land were allocated to Norik Petrosyan's daughter, Armine Petrosyan.
