Russian Deputy Transport Minister to Resign Following Crimea Bridge Explosion

Russian Deputy Transport Minister Alexander Sukhanov, who was responsible for transportation safety issues, will resign following the explosion at the Crimea bridge. This was reported by RBK, citing its sources.

One of the sources mentioned that the resignation announcement could come before the end of this week, but another source added that the decision could be delayed.

Sukhanov has served as Deputy Transport Minister since July 2020 and previously worked as the Deputy Head of the Federal Air Transport Agency.

It is worth mentioning that on October 8, the Russian National Anti-Terrorism Committee reported an explosion involving a cargo vehicle on the Crimea bridge, resulting in the ignition of seven fuel tanks of a train. The incident partially collapsed the axle of two vehicles, but the arch of the navigable part of the bridge was not damaged.
