Macron Speaks on France and Germany Relations
French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that Germany should not isolate itself within Europe. “I don’t think it would be good for Germany or Europe if they isolate themselves,” he said upon arriving in Brussels.
Macron emphasized his determination to maintain the French-German friendship and alliance during a time when the relationship between the two countries is facing challenges. “I want to preserve European unity, as well as the friendship and alliance between Germany and France,” he remarked.
Accumulated disagreements between Paris and Berlin have led to the postponement of the French-German ministerial council meeting scheduled for October 26 in Fontainebleau until January.
“I have always considered it my duty to do everything possible to find paths of agreement between Germany and France, which will then allow us to build European agreements,” Macron stated.
