‘It Speaks to Putin’s Desperation’: Blinken

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has given an interview during an American broadcast, stating that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s declaration of martial law in Ukrainian territories illegally annexed by Russia ‘speaks to his desperation’ as Ukrainian forces continue to make progress in repelling the invasion.

‘In just the last few weeks, he has tried to mobilize more forces. He has gone through with the sham annexation of Ukrainian territories. Now, saying that he is declaring martial law in those areas speaks to his desperation,’ the Secretary remarked.

It is noteworthy that President Vladimir Putin has announced the imposition of martial law in four regions of Ukraine that have been annexed. He has also set various levels of ‘readiness’ across all regions of Russia.
