Armenia's Security in Artsakh is Ensured by Russian Peacekeepers: Aghajanyan
On the aftermath of the November 9 trilateral statement, the Armenian armed forces have no control over the designated areas, and this is a fact. This was stated by Edvard Aghajanyan, a member of parliament from the ruling party and chairman of the parliamentary committee on foreign relations, during a press conference with US congressmen and Armenian parliament members.
“In the post-war period, Armenia has provided unprecedented financial assistance to Artsakh and will continue to do so. However, I believe it is difficult to equate financial aid with military and security guarantees. In this regard, it must be noted that yes, the presence of the Russian peacekeeping contingent is what ensures the security of the Armenians of Artsakh and the fact that our compatriots continue to live in their homeland,” said Aghajanyan.
Regarding the process and the involvement of the US and the international community, Aghajanyan emphasized the importance of the international community's engagement in this matter, which should become profound and comprehensive as a result of diplomatic efforts.
