It is Known How Many Observers the EU Will Deploy to the Armenian-Azerbaijani Border

It is expected that the foreign ministers of the European Union member states will approve the civilian monitoring mission to be sent to Armenia on October 17. According to Armenpress, the foreign ministers will address the issue during the scheduled meeting in Luxembourg on October 17.

According to the Russian TASS agency, a representative of the European Union has stated that the monitoring mission to Armenia will be confirmed during the meeting. “During the meeting on October 6, an agreement was reached on the creation of the mission among the Presidents of France, the President of the European Council, the Prime Minister of Armenia, and the President of Azerbaijan. The ministers are expected to approve this mission on Monday,” he said.

The EU representative added that there are not many details about the mission yet, but mentioned that approximately 400 observers will be deployed in the first phase. He also noted that the first observers will be sent to the border from the EU monitoring mission in Georgia, considering the urgency of the issue.
