School Holidays Dates Announced

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia has confirmed the dates for school holidays in the approved exemplary educational plans for the 2022-2023 academic years for general education institutions implementing basic, specialized, and special state programs.

For the 2022-2023 academic year, students in grades 3-12 will have the following holiday breaks: Autumn break from October 24 to 30, 2022, inclusive; Winter break from December 26, 2022, to January 8, 2023, inclusive; and Spring break from March 27 to April 2, 2023, inclusive.

First graders will have an autumn break from October 17 to 30, 2022, inclusive; a winter break from December 26, 2022, to January 22, 2023, inclusive; and a spring break from March 20 to April 2, 2023, inclusive.

Second graders will have an autumn break from October 24 to 30, 2022, inclusive; a winter break from December 26, 2022, to January 22, 2023, inclusive; and a spring break from March 27 to April 2, 2023, inclusive.

According to the educational plan, the Ministry of Education and Science may establish additional holidays in cases of force majeure (such as adverse weather conditions, outbreaks of infectious diseases, natural disasters, etc.) by making changes to the schedule of educational activities and the holiday timetable for students. The educational institution may also make these changes, provided they notify the relevant authority of the adjustments made to compensate for missed classes before the end of the educational activities or to organize remote educational activities.

It has also been established that the 2022-2023 academic year will conclude on May 26, 2023, for a five-day workweek and on May 27 for a six-day workweek, ensuring at least 30 weeks of instruction for the first grade, 32 weeks for the second grade, and 34 weeks for grades three through twelve.
