“I am French, I am European, and I refuse to fund the killing of Armenians by buying Azerbaijani gas.” This statement was made by Denis Jorkaeff, the honorary consul of Armenia in France and the brother of the famous French footballer Youri Jorkaeff.

It is worth mentioning that the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, which aims to increase the volume of Azerbaijani natural gas imports to 20 billion cubic meters annually by 2027. This means that gas imports from Azerbaijan to EU countries will be doubled. The EU is seeking alternative suppliers of energy resources due to the aggressive war unleashed by Russia in Ukraine.
