The National Security Service (NSS) has issued a statement noting: “Mass media outlets have published information that the explosive materials used for the terrorist act on the Crimean Bridge on October 8, 2022, were concealed in a freight vehicle driven by a citizen of Armenia. This vehicle had entered the Republic of Armenia from abroad and subsequently headed to the Russian Federation.
In order to verify the authenticity of this information and clarify all circumstances of the incident, the investigative department of the NSS has initiated a criminal case under relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia concerning suspected international terrorism support, smuggling of explosive materials by a group of individuals in preliminary agreement across the EAEU border, and forgery of legal documents. Within this framework, interrogations, seizures, and other investigative and procedural activities have been conducted.
The preliminary investigation continues, utilizing all possible legal tools to clarify the real circumstances of the case, with urgent investigative and operational-search comprehensive measures being undertaken. The NSS will provide relevant information to the public as necessary.”
