Ministry of Education Responds to Rumors About Closing Brusov University

It was recently reported that Tsolak Hakobyan, the dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Services at V. Brusov State University, made a post on his Facebook page, notably mentioning:

“Yesterday it became clear that a secret project is circulating in the Ministry of Education and Science (MoES), proposing the closure of V. Brusov State University. For this 'democratic' government, the covert adoption of important decisions seems to have become a common practice. By the way, yesterday, when the issue of announcing a competition for the election of the Rector was discussed during the Board of Trustees meeting, government representatives expressed their opposition to the agenda approval, arguing that the issue of merging universities is currently under consideration. You cannot eliminate a university with a 90-year tradition in one decision,” wrote Hakobyan.

Auroranews.am contacted the press secretary of the MoES to determine the veracity of the circulating information. In an interview with us, press secretary Gegham Melikbekyan mentioned that they are aware of the rumors and will issue a statement in the next 1-2 hours.
