Artsakh Defense Army Responds to Aliyev's False Statement

The Defense Army's placement of mines has exclusively occurred along the contact line with the Azerbaijani armed forces, and this process has been mutual. This was stated by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense of the Artsakh Republic, Suren Saroyan.

Recall that today, on October 13, during the ongoing meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council in the capital of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev once again claimed that the Armenian side allegedly placed around one million mines in the occupied territories of Artsakh.

According to Suren Saroyan, numerous efforts have been made to clear mines placed by the Azerbaijani side after the first war; however, given the volume, hundreds of hectares remain mined. Our interlocutor asserted that all information regarding the mines placed in those areas is known only to the Azerbaijani side, and in this regard, the unfounded accusations directed at the Armenian side are an attempt to deceive the international community.
