The Armenian Nation is Currently in the Most Dangerous and Fateful Phase, Says Catholicos Aram I

Despite political differences, the Armenian nation is called to preserve its identity and maintain its unity. This was stated by Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia in an interview with Diego Karamanukian, the director of Uruguay's 'Radio Araks'.

"We are a small nation; throughout history, we have lost many things, including our homeland and statehood. However, we have not lost our identity or our belonging. The elements of our identity and belonging are our spiritual, moral, national, cultural values, and traditions. We are called to remain firmly attached to our ancestors' traditions," emphasized Catholicos Aram I.

According to him, the Armenian nation is currently in the most dangerous and fateful phase of modern history. "The most important and urgent issue against these crises is the unity of our people. If we look at our history, during the most fateful moments for our people, hostile ministers stood side by side to defend the homeland and the nation, as seen in the Battle of Vardanants," noted Aram I.

Aram I stressed that he is ready to guarantee the unity of the Armenian people with his presence. "In this regard, I have always expressed my willingness, both through personal conversations and publicly. Recently, consultations have taken place (referring to the meeting of the Supreme Patriarch of All Armenians Karekin II with former presidents of Armenia and Artsakh), and there is a permanent consultation between the two supreme pontiffs on this matter, and these consultations should continue. We need to speak with our political leaders to make our views clearer. Particularly important are these consultations with political leaders to shape public approaches, including with the opposition. I believe the leaders of Artsakh and the diaspora play a crucial role in this matter," emphasized Aram I.
