US Intelligence on the Killing of Daria Dugina
US intelligence agencies believe that the Ukrainian government allowed the explosion of a car bomb near Moscow in August, resulting in the death of the prominent Russian political scientist's daughter, Daria Dugina, according to the New York Times.
According to the Times, the US did not participate in Dugina’s assassination and was not aware of it beforehand.
The 29-year-old Dugina died on August 20 when her Toyota Land Cruiser exploded.
Following the assassination, Ukraine denied any involvement, while Russia's Federal Security Service accused Ukrainian intelligence services of being involved in the killing.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the Times' publication is positive in that US intelligence agrees with Russia on who is behind the assassination.
The New York Times has reported that some American officials suspect that Dugina’s father was the actual target of the assassination.
