Decision to Be Made in Criminal Proceedings Against Jalal Harutyunyan

The investigating body is expected to announce the completion of the investigation regarding the criminal proceedings initiated against former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, Jalal Harutyunyan, in the near future. This was reported by ArmLur.am.

Additionally, the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' noted that parents of conscripts who served in the Tsovinar military unit have also provided testimonies in connection with the criminal case against Jalal Harutyunyan. According to information received by the newspaper, before charges were brought against Harutyunyan, 20 parents of soldiers who died from that military unit were interrogated and provided specific testimonies against him. The parents detailed who they believe are responsible for the deaths of their children.

It should be noted that one of the charges against Jalal Harutyunyan, who led the Artsakh Defense Army during the 44-day war, pertains to the circumstances surrounding the deaths of artillerymen in the Tsovinar military unit. During the 44-day war, Harutyunyan was severely injured and subsequently removed from his position. The other charge against the 47-year-old concerns the significant losses of personnel and military equipment suffered by Armenian units during a counter-offensive on October 7, which were allegedly a direct result of his actions. The reserve units became non-combat-ready, and the fire positions they held fell under enemy control.

In connection with the deaths of soldiers from the Tsovinar military unit, there is currently an individual in custody: Major Gevorg Gevorgyan, the deputy commander of the artillery division's staff, whose case is already in court.
