The Video is New, the Incident Occurred on September 13: Ombudsman's Statement on the Killing of Captives
The fact that Azerbaijani servicemen intentionally killed Armenian prisoners of war has been clarified at this moment. The incident occurred on September 13 of this year during the large-scale attack unleashed by the Azerbaijani armed forces on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. This information is stated in the message circulated by the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Kristine Grigoryan.
“The fact is confirmed by the examination of the site, the comparison with similar videos available in our and other databases, as well as the complex analysis of weather conditions, the soldiers' uniforms, conversations of Azerbaijani servicemen, and other parameters,” Grigoryan noted.
The Human Rights Defender of Armenia emphasizes that this is yet another war crime committed by the Azerbaijani armed forces, stemming from a systematic policy of hatred against Armenians, which is implemented by Azerbaijan and manifests in all areas of public life, starting from educational content and reflected in statements by the country's president.
This video, among others, will be included in the urgent report of the Human Rights Defender and will be sent to international organizations and stakeholders.
Kristine Grigoryan reminds that today is marked in the UN calendar as the “Day for the Elimination of Violence,” yet the inadequate response from international human rights bodies regarding these war crimes poses a risk of merely adding more of such new days to the UN calendar.
It is noteworthy that earlier, the video of the execution of Armenian captives circulated on Telegram channels has been addressed by the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, Toivo Klaar, the spokesperson of the Armenian Ministry of Defense, and the Armenian ambassador-at-large Edmon Marukyan.
