Brutal Video of Execution Involves 7-8 Individuals: Siranush Sahakyan

“Identification is being carried out for the servicemen seen in the brutal execution video. We are talking about 7-8 individuals,” said human rights defender Siranush Sahakyan, who is engaged in protecting the rights of Armenian prisoners of war at the European Court of Human Rights, in an interview with Factor.am concerning a video circulated on Telegram channels showing Azerbaijani soldiers executing Armenian POWs.

“Although the investigation is still ongoing, we are almost certain that the atrocity took place during the latest Azerbaijani provocation on September 13. The location has already been identified, and efforts are currently underway to disclose the specific position,” Sahakyan added, without specifying which area of the Republic of Armenia she was referring to.

The human rights defender is already preparing an application to submit to the European Court of Human Rights in collaboration with her colleagues representing Armenia in international bodies. “If there had been accountability for such numerous actions in the past, war crimes would not be continuing today. This is a consequence of impunity,” she stated.
