Applications Will Be Submitted to International Courts Regarding the Shooting of Armenian Prisoners
The Armenian representative office on international legal issues will send applications to the European and International Court of Justice tomorrow regarding a video circulating on Telegram channels, in which Azerbaijani soldiers brutally execute Armenian prisoners of war. This was announced by the spokesperson of the office, Hasmik Samvelyan.
“We are working with the relevant bodies. Based on the compilation of facts, we will send applications to the European Court and the International Court of Justice in the morning,” said Samvelyan.
A video has emerged online showing how representatives of the Azerbaijani military are shooting Armenian soldiers who are prisoners of war. Auroranews.am contacted the press secretary of the Armenian Ministry of Defense, Aram Torosyan. In our conversation, he commented on the circulating video, stating, “At this moment, we cannot provide any specific information about the location or chronology; the relevant authorities are examining the video. Regarding its authenticity, we believe there is no doubt; this is characteristic of the Azerbaijani armed forces, and this characteristic is known to us and the international community through undeniable evidence from previous similar incidents.”
Videos were shared on social media showing the execution of a group of Armenian prisoners by Azerbaijanis. It is presumed that this tragic event occurred during the Azerbaijani aggression on September 13-14.
The EU’s special representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, Toivo Klaar, tweeted that another video has emerged showing how Armenian prisoners of war are being executed. “If it is proven that this video is real, then it constitutes a war crime that must be investigated and for which those responsible should be punished,” Klaar stated.
