A Dark Day for the Football World: Infantino Expresses Condolences Over Indonesia Tragedy

The President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, has expressed condolences regarding the tragedy that occurred after a match in the Indonesian league. A total of 174 fans have lost their lives.

"It is a dark day for all those connected to football, and the football world is in shock over the tragedy in Indonesia. I extend my condolences to the families and friends of those who perished in this tragedy. In this difficult time, the thoughts and prayers of FIFA and the entire global community are with the victims, the injured, the people of Indonesia, the Asian Football Confederation, the Indonesian Football Association, and the Indonesian football league," said Infantino in his statement.

It is noteworthy that the 11th round match between Arema and Persebaya ended in disaster. Arema lost 2-3. Fans of the team stormed the field, and clashes broke out with the police.

It later became known that the match, held in a stadium with a capacity of 38,000, was attended by 42,000 fans.
