Aliyev Will Call and Plead with the US Not to Impose Sanctions, Edmon Marukyan Says
Aliyev will call the US and plead that they do not impose sanctions if they are enacted. This was stated by the Special Envoy and President of the LHK, Edmon Marukyan, during a 24TV broadcast.
According to Marukyan, the invasion of Armenian territories will have clear consequences, and Aliyev's end will be dire. He also noted that according to international law, we have the right to push back enemies by force if diplomatic means become ineffective.
Marukyan also rebutted former Armenian President Levon Ter-Petrosyan, stating that Armenia has not capitulated, as capitulation is a legal concept, and it is incorrect to compare it to Japan in that sense.
Speaking about the normalization of relations with neighbors, he mentioned that we need to quickly resolve the issues of demarcation and delimitation and sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan. Regarding the status of Artsakh, he noted that we cannot obtain a good solution at this time, emphasizing that the status should be left for future discussions.
According to him, these two processes should proceed in parallel. In the opinion of the Special Envoy, Russia's influence has diminished in the region, while that of Turkey and Azerbaijan has increased. In this regard, we cannot overlook the need to work with other powers, and additionally, the US and France are providing us with significant political support.
