Mass Protests in Tokyo Against Former Prime Minister's State Funeral

Mass protests have erupted in Tokyo against the state funeral ceremony of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Hundreds of people took to the streets to express their opposition to the government's decision, reports RIA Novosti.

Aerial footage shows demonstrators marching down streets near the Nippon Budokan martial arts hall, where the state funeral for the assassinated former prime minister is scheduled to take place later.

Many protesters carried placards reading "Oppose the State Funeral" and "Cancel the Funeral." Some activists were surrounded by police, who attempted to remove them from the crowd.

It is recalled that the former prime minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, was assassinated while delivering a speech at a pre-election rally in the streets of Nara on July 8. Abe was 67 years old. The politician's body was cremated on July 12.
