How Much Will the Fines for Littering in Unauthorized Areas Be

The fines for littering in unauthorized areas are set to increase significantly. According to the Yerevan Municipality, a legislative amendment package initiated by the municipality has been revised. The package also includes a review of fines for trucks and concrete mixers that constantly pollute the city.

It is important to note that current legislation imposes a fine of 30,000 drams for polluting the roadway, with the Armenian Traffic Police and patrol service being responsible for enforcement.

Earlier, the police announced that officers would begin fining citizens for improperly disposing of waste. The National Assembly has already approved a package of amendments to relevant laws.

Representatives of local self-government bodies will also be held accountable. For instance, they will be fined for the accumulation of waste outside containers and landfills. In this case, fines will range from 100,000 to 200,000 drams. Moreover, individuals and enterprises that commit such violations will also face penalties. Individuals will be fined between 30,000 and 50,000 drams, while businesses will face fines ranging from 100,000 to 150,000 drams.
