Record Lines at the ‘Upper Lars’ Checkpoint

Following the announcement of mobilization in Russia, approximately 2300 vehicles are lined up at the ‘Upper Lars’ border checkpoint in North Ossetia, waiting to enter Georgia. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of North Ossetia has advised against leaving Russia through Upper Lars. They also reported that they have strengthened the presence of the Road Patrol Service at the border.

The traffic jam leaving Russia through Upper Lars began forming on September 21, following the announcement of partial mobilization in Russia. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of North Ossetia stated that no congestion was observed on September 20.

As of September 23, around 2000 vehicles were recorded waiting to cross the border into Georgia. In recent days, flight ticket prices for departures from Russia have also increased sharply, and there have been crowds of men at Russian airports.
