“Around 50 Percent of Residents Have Left,” Says Upper Shorja Leader

“It’s a mixed situation; everything is uncertain. At this moment, I can’t say exactly how much damage has been done to the community,”

Artyom Yeranosyan, the administrative head of Upper Shorja in the Vardenis region of Gegharkunik, stated in an interview with Lurer.com.

According to him, not only residential homes but also a tank located in the village have become targets of the recent Azerbaijani attacks.

“As far as I know, the regional authorities and the Vardenis community have conducted some assessments. However, currently, there is no clear statistic available,”

said the official. Yeranosyan noted that there is no current border tension. “One thing I can say for sure is that about 50 percent of the village’s residents have left Upper Shorja.”
